Tuesday got of to a good start with a drawn pairs being held in the evening so players could have a bit of a practice.There were 86 players entered so it was a good night.Everybody I talked to liked the new Unicorn boards.

Wednesdaythe tournament has just got underway with187 mixed pairs to be followed by the Inter-Area teams finals to be played tonight.What a great day long but great.The finals of the mixed pairs was a real cliff hanger with Chris Hay and Ron Daly beating Mark McGrath and Delyce McGreevey 4 ~ 3 after being 3 ~ 1 down. The plate was won by our new executive member Tony Nuku and his partner Selina Baker-Clemas from Ken McDowall and Candy Craig. The Inter-Area finals was won by Auckland after a tough battle with Capital and Hawke’s Bay East Coast coming in third, the night was full of team matches showing how even the areas were.

Thursday Today was a big day with the Men’s (115) & Ladies (97) Pairs being played.The Ladies Pairs were won by Gail Remuera & Mel Edwards from the Stokes Valley Club with Peggy Wikarira & Denise Walker from the Onehunga WM Club runners up.The Ladies plate was won by Pauline Anderson & Aroha Hakaraia from the Wanganui RSA with Maralyn Waitere & Lisa Sharrock from the Waitara DS Club runners up. The Men’s Pairs were won by John Sinclair & Graeme McElroy from the Papatoetoe Cossie Club with Bill Fergus & Laurie Turner from Clubs Palmerston runners up. The Men’s plate was won by Richard TeWhero & Monty Tuhua from the Glen Eden RSA with Grant McGregor & Alan Brock of the Papakura Club.A great day of darts was had by all

Friday Another big day with 189 ladies playing in the Ladies Singles. Mihi George from the Hamilton WM Club held of a strong challenge from Ra Edwards of the NZEFGisborne to win. The Plate was won by Rita Davey from the Waitara DS Club with Kim Dunsmuir of the Howick Dart Club runner up.

Saturday The big day 236 men vying for the Singles title.What a great final with the pairs winners of John Sinclair & Graeme McElroy fighting out the final with Graeme coming out the winner in a great contest between two mates from the Papatoetoe Club.The plate round saw another great dart player joining the long list of top players to win the plate event congratulations goes to Ron Glavish from the North Habour Club who beat John Withers of the Stratford Club in the final.Full results will be posted early in the week.
